Step n' Stash

As a part of Northwestern University’s Design, Thinking, and Communication course, a team of three other students and I partnered with the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab to develop a home-accessibility solution for wheelchair users. Our goal was to help users safely transition from the floor while maintaining a product that fit seamlessly into a home environment. The result was the Step n’ Stash—a collapsible staircase that resembles a drawer when not in use, saving space and blending into interior decor. Our design process included user research, surveys, rapid prototyping, and usability testing to iterate and refine the final product.
