In FSAE vehicles, uprights are critical components that connect the wheel assembly to the suspension, transmitting loads from the tires and brakes into the chassis. For the 2025–2026 season, I’m leading the design of a new front upright that, for the first time in Northwestern Formula Racing history, integrates a planetary gearbox into its structure.

This project is currently in development. My initial design prioritizes structural stiffness and packaging efficiency while minimizing weight. Upcoming steps include FEA in Ansys Static Structural to guide potential areas for geometry refinement. Depending on simulation results, alternate designs may be explored to improve the overall strength-to-weight ratio and simplify manufacturing.
