Thorn 14

During my time at BR+A, one of the tasks I was responsible for was redesigning the HVAC system in the North Wing of Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Thorn Building, a laboratory-intensive space with high thermal loads from specialized equipment. The redesign required careful load calculations and duct layout modifications to ensure adequate ventilation and cooling performance.
In addition to accounting for heat-generating lab equipment, I adapted the ductwork to accommodate changes in room layouts and door placements. The project also involved integrating new fume hoods, which required rerouting supply and exhaust systems to meet safety and ventilation standards.
